What our clients say

Case Study – StairMate SA-S

“One of our employees, R, has brittle bone disease and uses a customised wheelchair. The building they work in has 6 floors and we occupy the 5th and 6th floors, with R being based on the 5th.

There was an existing evacuation chair in the building, but due to R’s condition, they were unable to use this, and colleagues would carry R down the stairs in the event of an emergency evacuation. This was far from an ideal situation, and R was understandably concerned about using a standard evac chair given their condition and the fact that their wheelchair would be left in the building if they were evacuated, leaving them immobile. To address this, we looked for an alternative solution, and contacted Julia and Greg at Swallow EMP to see what options there were. They suggested a few possible options and arranged to come to our offices in Dublin to meet R and try out the options.

Greg and Julia worked closely with us, and especially R to gain their trust and confidence in the solution being presented. Over the course of a few visits, they customised a solution for R, using the StairMate SA-S along with a customised ramp to assist in getting R’s wheelchair onto the StairMate.

They delivered full training to 3 employees as a Train the Trainer session, and to a wider group of volunteers who will act as R’s buddies in an emergency evacuation. Coupled with the assurance of annual maintenance visits, Swallow EMP provided a bespoke solution which meant that all our employees can safely evacuate in an emergency, and retain their independence once evacuated.”

Case Study – TRE-52

The procurement of our Super Trac TRE-52 Powered Stair Climber has been proven to be an asset in enhancing Northumbria University’s accessibility needs by supporting our wheelchair users across our Newcastle Campuses.

The chair climber is utilised primarily to aid wheelchair users up and down stairs in the event of a building lift failure or whilst a lift repair and planned maintenance is carried out, allowing them to go about their daily routine within our buildings without impact. The Stair Climber has also been used at other venues such as supporting the wider community to access our Covid-19 Lateral Flow Test Facilities and other University events.

Greg worked closely with our Health and Safety Team and colleagues from the Accessibility Review Group in trialling the Super Trac TRE-70 Stair Climber to ensure its useability and suitability satisfied the University’s needs, Greg’s expert understanding, and service was exemplary, and the stair climber was beyond expectation.

Greg delivered thorough staff training on the stair climber that was professional, concise, and knowledgeable. Greg clearly knows his stuff covering all aspects of the equipment. The aftersales care service has been great with Julia and the team at Evaccess providing timely technical support when required and are always on hand to deal with all our queries, whether that be over the phone or through a site visit by one of the engineers.

Testimonials

“We underwent refresher training on our evac chairs from Evaccess in July 2020. This was a small group of key staff who would use the chairs in the event of an emergency. We felt that the training provided was professional, well considered, responsive to our questions and always Greg and Jack were able to clearly show all aspects of the equipment used. We gained additional knowledge and tips over the course of the training which will be invaluable going forward for us training our own staff. Greg and Jack were readily able to field all our questions and assist with the training. It was a pleasure to deal with the Evaccess staff whose knowledge and expertise are clear and precise.”

Angela Freeman – Glasgow Film Theatre

“Thinking about emergency evacuation is a bit like making a will, no-one wants to do it, but everyone should. As a wheelchair user living in a high rise flat, I put it off for far too long and wish I had not. The team listened to my concerns without judgement and helped find a solution which works for me, and my care team, if I ever need to evacuate. I sleep soundly now!”

Sarah Rennie – Resident in Brindley House

“The University of Warwick chose Evaccess and their CD-7 Evac Trac Evacuation chair. The CD-7 was selected after some intensive trials with our staff and students and it was selected on its usability and comfort for those who may need to use it in an emergency. The aftersales support has been great and Julia and the team at Evaccess has provided timely technical support when required.”
